Product Description
A quilt – just patches of a German family’s life, worn soft by Time, but it's a whole lot more to its owner, Sofia Blackburn-Anderson, also known as "Sofie Simon", a famous author and founder of a chain of widely known children's adoption centers. Sofia had overcome life’s adversities by clinging to the traditional German values of her very sheltered upbringing in post WWI Berlin but, after the Third Reich shattered her life, she'd abandoned any ties to her heritage. Now, in 2008, she faces death, worried about the disposition of her grandmother's quilt, the one item in her vast estate she values most. To Sofia, the quilt is a relic of her childhood and a constant reminder of her beloved grandmother who had made the quilt and shared family stories as she fingered each patch lovingly. Unable to find a suitable home for the tattered blanket which means so much to her, she concludes she must bury the quilt with her . . . until she meets Janene McDeenon.
Readers of literary fiction who enjoy stories with an emphasis on historical documentation, as well as quilters of all ages, especially those who weave life stories into the patches they sew, won't be disappointed. Clu Gallagher's inspiration came from a growing friendship with a German Immigrant to the U.S. who had once been a child of a Nazi. A baby boomer growing up in the United States herself, the thought occurred to her that, if they had met in childhood, they would have been enemies.
SHATTERED SEEDS: "SOFIA'S STORY" placed as a Quarterfinalist in the ABNA 2010 competition. Currently, she is working on her second novel. Look for THE ROAD TO RIGHTEOUSNESS coming soon.

About the Author
Maura (English) Gallagher wanted a pen name when she'd decided to start writing at age fifty-nine. She'd chosen “R.E. Cluse” because of her connection to her beloved father (his initials were R.L.E.) and her new life style, brought on by the sudden onset of the mysterious illness known as Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Soon, her friends and colleagues called her,"CLU". Some have said: “Life begins at forty”. CluGallagher might agree if it followed that the “The new forty was sixty”. She’d built a life as a dedicated Art Teacher, Artist, wife, and mother and, after becoming chronically ill, she felt as if her former life had been taken away. Trying to overcome them and inspired by a friendship with a German immigrant to America, she turned to her secret passion, writing. After five years in the making, she completed SHATTERED SEEDS:"SOFIA'S STORY". It is her hope that the story will inspire its readers as much as the process of writing it has motivated her to "reach for another tomorrow.” Born in Pittsburgh, she continues to live in her favorite city with her husband of almost forty years, two daughters, and seven grandchildren. CLU has drafted two more novels, both unpublished. Look for THE ROAD TO RIGHTEOUSNESS coming soon. More information may be found at Clu's website: www.clugallagher.com
